Robust Upgrades Completed for Surf Internet’s Columbia City Network
ELKHART, Ind. – Christmas has come early for Surf Internet customers in Columbia City, Ind. Their gift appears not under a tree, but instead under the ground in the form of significant upgrades to the network delivering their fiber-optic internet services.
Surf’s network upgrades were in direct response to a series of reported outages last month. In addition to providing customers with a one-month service credit, Surf acted quickly to get infrastructure in place that would help protect against future network outages.
It was determined that network issues affecting Columbia City were due to outages with a third-party upstream circuit provider. To address this, Surf dedicated funds to add a second, completely independent, upstream circuit provider between Columbia City and Surf’s South Bend data center to feed additional bandwidth to Columbia City.
“This redundant fiber route into Columbia City will ensure that every resident has reliable access to the fastest broadband available,” said Surf Internet CEO Gene Crusie. “We are fully committed to transforming this community and hope the investment of our own resources in network upgrades shows that,” he added.
