HARTFORD, Mich., Nov. 25, 2025 – Surf Internet® announced today that construction of its fiber-optic network in Hartford is nearing completion, with service already available to the first group of homes and businesses. The project, which began with a groundbreaking on October 15, will bring fast, reliable fiber internet to nearly 1,000 locations across the city by mid–to-late December.
Construction has been moving forward in three phases. The first area came online at the end of October, giving more than 250 homes and businesses access to fiber service. A second area covering 300+ additional locations was scheduled for completion by the end of November. The third and final area, reaching nearly 400 locations, will be finished in December. Surf brought in extra construction crews to help accelerate the timeline and ensure steady progress throughout the fall.
Community leaders shared their enthusiasm as construction progresses across the city.
“We welcome Surf Internet to Hartford to bring more options and opportunities to our residents!” said Mayor Rick Hall. “The City of Hartford is excited to have Surf Internet! It will be a great benefit to the residents to have fiber-fast internet!” added Nicol Pulluiam.
Surf Internet CEO Gene Crusie said the project reflects both the city’s momentum and Surf’s broader mission to expand fiber connectivity across the Great Lakes region.
“We’re thrilled to see fiber service going live in Hartford and to give residents and businesses the kind of internet access that helps communities grow,” Crusie said. “Whether it’s supporting local employers, helping students stay connected, or strengthening the quality of life for families, reliable internet matters. We look forward to being a long-term partner in Hartford’s future.”
