All Fiber Certification

ELKHART, Ind. (July 30, 2024) – Surf Internet® has been awarded the Fiber Broadband Association’s (FBA) All Fiber Certification, recognizing its dedication to providing the fastest and most reliable broadband connectivity. This certification, presented at the FBA’s Fiber Connect Awards Luncheon held in Nashville, Tenn., on Monday, July 29, is granted to FBA members who ensure that 90 percent or more of their networks rely on fiber-optic infrastructure, demonstrating a strong strategic commitment to fiber deployment.

“Service providers, like Surf Internet, that qualify for the All Fiber Certification are leveraging fiber to connect their communities and customers to high-quality internet and digital services that will support broadband needs for decades to come,” said Gary Bolton, President and CEO at the FBA. “I congratulate Surf on its certification. The more All Fiber service providers we celebrate, the closer we get to providing reliable connectivity to every corner of North America and closing the digital equity gap forever.”

“We are honored to receive the Fiber Broadband Association’s All Fiber Certification,” said Surf Internet CEO Gene Crusie. “Starting as an internet service provider in the mid-1990s, we’ve evolved from dial-up to fixed wireless, DSL, and now fiber. Among all these technologies, fiber-optic broadband stands out as the one capable of truly bridging the digital divide. We view this as the ultimate technology and are fully committed to a fiber-only approach to help us achieve our mission of transforming the future of rural communities across the Great Lakes region.”

Surf operates a fiber-to-the-home network that extends to over 150,000 households across Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. The company aims to reach over 200,000 households by the end of 2024, adding more than 6,000 homes to their construction plans each month. In addition, Surf has been awarded over $55 million in grant funding, which it is using to connect many of its fixed wireless subscribers to fiber.

Currently, Surf offers service packages with multi-gig speeds across most of its markets, providing robust and reliable internet connectivity for households and businesses. The network is designed for scalability, enabling it to seamlessly support multi-gig speeds as demand increases. This adaptability ensures that Surf Internet remains at the forefront of technology, providing cutting-edge solutions that are both competitive and future-proof. Whether for e-learning, video conferencing, working from home, gaming, or powering smart devices, Surf’s fiber-optic infrastructure is equipped to handle the ever-evolving digital needs of its customers.
