PERU, Ind. (November 27, 2024)—Surf Internet® continues its mission to deliver high-speed, reliable internet to underserved communities with the groundbreaking of a new fiber-optic network expansion in Peru, Ind. The ceremony, held on November 19 at Peru’s Davis Park, was attended by key community leaders and organizations, including the City of Peru and Mayor Don Sturch, Miami-Cass REMC, the Miami County Chamber of Commerce, and the Miami County Economic Development Authority, demonstrating a shared commitment to advancing the region’s digital infrastructure.
With an investment of over $5.5 million, Surf Internet will extend fiber-optic service to more than 4,275 residential and commercial properties in Peru. The network will launch with initial speeds of up to 2 gigabits-per-second (Gigs) with scalability built to support up to 10 Gigs, ensuring the infrastructure remains competitive and future-ready. The first phase of the project is expected to go live by December 2024, with all construction slated for completion by mid-2026.
