ELKHART, Ind. (June 27, 2023) – Surf Internet℠ kicked off the next phase of bringing fiber internet to the community of Churubusco, Indiana, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on June 23. Elected officials, members of the Churubusco Chamber of Commerce, Surf representatives, and community stakeholders were in attendance to celebrate this key milestone.
Surf Internet has already invested $5.2 million in Whitley County through the buildout of fiber internet services for Columbia City, and is now investing over $1 million in Churubusco.

Construction to bring its reliable, high-speed fiber network to over 750 addresses throughout the town is set to be completed by the end of this year, before expanding their network further into Whitley County. Once complete, the fiber infrastructure will allow Surf to introduce multi-gig speeds in the future, giving residents even faster options to suit their connectivity needs.
“Today is a great day for the Town of Churubusco. It is long past time that citizens get access to high-speed, affordable internet,” said Whitley County Commissioner Theresa Baysinger. “My experience working with Surf has been great. I have high hopes for the rural parts to receive it next. The County’s new Broadband Task Force will be working diligently to capture some of the millions of dollars in grants coming from the State in the next year.”
