The Impact of Fiber-Optic Internet
Fastest Connection
Fiber-optic is up to 50x faster than traditional cable internet versus major cable providers: Xfinity, Spectrum, and Cox 2G1G cable service.^
Most Reliable Service
Fiber-optic networks are less susceptible to weather, interference, outages, and lags — fiber optic strands don’t have problems with signal loss.
Unlimited Data
Fiber-optic networks can transport theoretically infinite amounts of data — no request is too great.
Fiber to Your Door
Fiber-optic is delivered via a cable, either from underground or an aerial power pole, that goes right into your house.
Our Fiber-Optic Installation Process
Planning & permitting
We obtain all necessary approvals to build our network, which means that our crews will have access to the local right of way and utility easements — the same access as the electric and gas companies.
1-5 weeks
Workers in the utility easements
Passing homes
At this stage, fiber-optic cable will pass by your home but not connect to your home just yet. In neighborhoods where the utilities are overhead, we may install the fiber optic cables on existing telephone poles. In neighborhoods where the utilities are buried, we’ll lay cables underground. We’ll mark all existing utilities to make sure we don’t disrupt any of your neighborhood’s services during construction.
1-5 weeks
Construction signage
Lighting up homes
Once the fiber-optic network is installed, you will have the opportunity to sign up for service. After you sign up, one of our installation technicians will connect the fiber to your home. We’ve designed this connection process to be as friendly and convenient as possible.
1-5 weeks
Large spools of orange cable, work trucks and vans
Cleaning up our mess
The boring machines that we use to lay fiber-optic cable are designed to minimize disruption at ground level but despite our best efforts, construction can be a messy process. Once the project is complete, we will rake, seed, and straw your lawn in areas where digging occurred.

Long-Term Infrastructure
Advantage
- Fiber is future-proof: scalable, durable and less prone to signal degradation than coax or copper.
- Once in place, fiber is cheaper to maintain and easier to upgrade over time, producinglong-term cost savings for both service providers and municipalities. (Brattle Group, 2024) [2]
